West Side Story

I was busy working on my other website, but as soon as I heard the opening bars to the overture I knew I had a post I wanted to write for here.

I hadn’t actually meant to watch this musical. I didn’t even know it was on. The television was just on in the background and I hadn’t been paying attention to it since watching Rick Stein earlier.

It has been such a long time since I have seen West Side Story that I had forgotten how much I had enjoyed it and how good it really was.

Great songs and soundtrack by Leonard Bernstein with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

It’s got great choreography.

It’s got drama and comedy. It’s got action. It’s got a love story. It’s got retro fashion. It’s got colour – lots of colour.

What’s not to like?
